PAYMENTS & FEES

✔️ The minimum is one hour, for bookings with Denny the min amount is $160, and for bookings with Carolyn the min is $140.

✔️Not all tattoos require a consultation. If you know exactly what you want and where, we may be able to skip the consult and get you in for your tattoo. Flying Shield will provide you with several dates to choose from and work with you as best as possible to find a consultation time and/or tattoo appointment date that works with you within our operating hours and days.

✔️ A $160 deposit is required to book your tattoo appointment with Denny which will go towards your final bill. (E-transfer: dbgrafx@hotmail.com) This ensures that you are at your appointment on the day you booked and guarantees your date from anyone else taking it. The remaining balance can be paid  after your appointment with cash. Friendly reminder that deposits need to be sent within 5 hours of booking or appointment will be canceled. 

✔️ We understand life happens so we allow you to change the date 1 time with the same deposit if you are unable to make it to the original date you booked for **AS LONG AS YOU PROVIDE 72 HOURS NOTICE. Try your best to select the day which you are available for. Deposits are non-refundable.

✔️ With your 72 hours notice to reschedule, your new date must be scheduled within 6 months (this date can fall outside of the 6 month window). Failure to set a new date within 6 months notice of requiring a reschedule will be considered a No Show and the deposit can no longer be used if you should decide to reschedule after this timeframe.

👽If booking a tattoo with Carolyn, a $140 deposit is required to book your tattoo appointment with her which will go towards your final bill. (E-transfer: woolly.bath@gmail.com). This ensures that you are at your appointment on the day you booked and guarantees your date from anyone else taking it. The same policies above apply to bookings made with Carolyn.

HAND AND FINGER TATTOO POLICY

✔️ Hand and finger tattoos are not guaranteed as this is a high friction area of the body, they heal out. Generally they require one to two additional sessions in order to make the work permanent and depending on your job, they may never be fuller permanent.
✔️ There are no free touch-ups on hand and finger tattoos. If you choose to book a hand and or finger tattoo, all touch-ups are at your expense at the full hourly rate of the artist.
✔️ Only Denny will do hand and or finger tattoos. If you choose Carolyn for your hand tattoo, it will be declined

SERVICE POLICY

✔️ WE DO NOT RUSH THE WORK, All times are estimated and some tattoos may require a little bit more time to finish. This can be due to how well you sit, the number of breaks you need and/or due to multiple redesign/placement changes at the time of your appointment. Each of our tattoos are customized just for you and our artists take great care in designing them for you. Please respect their time by knowing what and where you want your tattoo before booking to save yours and the artists time.

✔️ Please be prepared to wait outside in your car if you arrive more than 5 mins early for your appointment as we may either be finishing with a previous client or disinfecting our tools and work station or simply eating in between clients.

✔️ Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. The Deposit is in-fact that, a deposit that commences the transaction of Art between Client and Artist. Upon cancellation, the deposit held transfers to the Artist to help compensate for the Artists lost time. We require 72 hours, (3 days) notice that you cannot attend your appointment. You must text or email your Artist cancellation notification, we do not accept DM’s from social media to cancel an appointment. At that point your deposit will carry over to your rescheduled date without any loss. However, less than 3 days notice or rescheduling a second time, will forfeit your deposit. A new deposit will be required to reschedule your appointment.

✔️ For larger tattoos that require multiple sessions to complete, your deposit is carried over to the next appointment to secure your appointment date. Meaning, if you paid a 1-hour deposit and your first session is 5 hours, you must pay for the 5 hours at that first session and your deposit is used to secure the date of your second appointment. Likewise if your piece requires any additional sessions to complete. Upon completion of your final session, your deposit is deducted from that final session (meaning, if that final session is 5 hours, the amount due is 4 hours as the deposit is now applied as the tattoo is completed and no additional sessions are required).

✔️Our artists are prepped and ready to begin your tattoo for the timeslot that you are scheduled for your appointment. Getting to the appointment on time is the responsibility of the client. We try to accommodate you and allow a 5-10 minute grace period. If you are 15+ minutes late, it is up to the artists discretion if they have time to complete your tattoo in the remaining time before their next client. If you are 20+ minutes late you are marked as a no show and your appointment may not be rescheduled at the shops discretion on a case by case basis.

🟩In the case where the client is 15+ minutes late and the artist and client move forward with the tattoo: The client is billed for tattooing time starting from when the appointment was booked to start. For example, if you appointment was to start at 10AM and due to being late, the appointment starts at 10:30AM, the clock for how long the tattoo takes to complete starts at 10AM. If your artist is done tattooing at 11:30am, you are required to pay an additional 30 minutes.

✔️ Showing up for your appointment under the influence of any drugs and/or alcohol will result in the immediate forfeit of your deposit, the cancelling of your appointment and any future appointments at Flying Shield Tattoo. Please respect your artist and show up well rested, sober and fed. Tattoos are taxing on both you and your artist and substances will not help with this. We do carry and sell numbing cream, please let us know in advance if you require this to help you with pain management.

✔️ We exercise our right to refuse any clients who are not in compliance with these policies. This could result in the forfeiture of your deposit. We do expect every client that is booking to have read through of the policies before booking.

TATTOO PREP

✔️ The night before; shave the Tattoo area and a generous portion of hair around the Tattoo area. Any irritation on your skin from shaving will settle down over night and give the Artist a better canvas to work with.

✔️ Make sure to eat a good meal before your appointment and bring snacks for longer appointments. A selection of drinks are provided at your appointment however you may wish to bring your own coffee or other beverage.

✔️ Wear comfortable clothing that allows us to access the area being tattooed, and if required, wear a hair tie to keep your hair out of the working area.

✔️ Bring your ID. Note: Flying Shield welcomes young adults between 16-18 years of age however, in order for our Artists to provide you at tattoo, one of your legal guardians or parents MUST sign a waver AND attend your tattoo appointment.

✔️Plan ahead and ensure you are on time. Our artists are ready to begin your tattoo for the timeslot that you are scheduled for your appointment. Getting to the appointment on time is your responsibility. We understand that things happen, especially with Alberta weather and road conditions. Make sure you plan ahead and leave with enough time to get to the appointment on time. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE - LET US KNOW ASAP. Please text the shop at 780-945-1886 if there is a chance you will be late to allow us to best accommodate. Please read the service policy for our late arrival policy

✔️ DO NOT COME UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. Showing up for your appointment under the influence of any substance will result in the immediate forfeit of your deposit, the cancelling of your appointment and any future appointments at Flying Shield Tattoo. If you would like to use numbing cream, we are happy to sell this to you. Let us know in advance and arrange a time to pick up the cream as it will need to be on the tattoo area approximately 2 hours in advance of your appointment in order for it to be the most effective. Bring the tube with you as we can reapply as needed throughout your tattoo appointment.

We welcome and love your friends to come for moral support if needed; please let us know in advance.

TATTOO TOUCH-UPS

✔️Touch-ups are available between 6 weeks to 6 months after your completed tattoo from the artist it was completed by for a $20 supply fee.

✔️A $40 deposit is required to book your touch-up, $20 of which will cover your supplies, the remaining balance will be returned to you.

✔️If you need to reschedule your touch-up appointment, 72 hours notice is required. If less than 72 hours is provided, the entire deposit will go to the artist.

✔️Touch-ups requested more than 6 months after the tattoo is completed will be charged at the regular shop rate. 

✔️ There are no free touch-ups on hand and finger tattoos. If you choose to book a hand and or finger tattoo, all touch-ups are at your expense at the full hourly rate of the artist.
